Prewitt delivers game-winning hit, Lynn Camp prevails over Barbourville, 12-11

CORBIN — Lorelai Prewitt came up with a two-out game-winning hit to give Lynn Camp a 12-11 come from behind win over Barbourville on Thursday.

The Lady Wildcats trailed 11-10 with two outs before Emma Burnette tied the game with a run-scoring hit while Prewitt followed with her clutch hit.

“I’m so proud of the fight my girls showed,” Lynn Camp coach Nikki Hendrix said. “They never quit and kept their heads up the entire game. I told the girls that this was a team win. The dugout was loud the entire game and everyone was focused. It always nice to get a district win. 

“Several players had hot bats tonight,” she added. “Lily, Lauren, Julie, Emma, and Lorelai had several hard hits. Reagan and Julie combined to  pitch a great game. Hoping this momentum will continue to carry over the rest of the weekend.”

The Lady Tigers (0-8) held an 11-7 lead entering the bottom of the sixth inning before Lynn Camp (4-8) rallied one last time.

Prewitt finished the game with three hits and four RBI while Lauren Partin had three hits, two RBI, and three runs scored. Lily Henize had four hits, two runs scored and two stolen bases. Burnette delivered two hits, and two RBI while Julie Moore had two hits, an RBI, and scored four times. Bella Gambell finished with two hits, an RBI and two runs scored.

Aubrey Richardson led Barbourville with three hits, three RBI and two runs scored while Joselyn Grubb had two hits and three RBI. Alina James finished with three hits while Bailee Branstutter had two hits. Katie Lewis drove in two runs.
