JAMESTOWN — The pitching duo of Luke Hillard and EJ Allen slammed the door shut on Russell County batters during the Colonels’ 7-1 win on Thursday.
Hillard notched the win, tossing five innings while allowing one hit, and no earned runs. He finished with three strikeouts. Allen tossed two perfect innings with three Ks.
“Luke and EJ were really good tonight,” Whitley County coach Jeremy Shope said. “Russell County had one hit and he should have been out at first. Defense was good except for one uncharacteristic error. Several guys had a multi hit game. Took awhile to get going. We came out flat and finally found some life about us.”
Cooper Parman led the way at the plate with three hits and two RBI while Henry Bowling finished with two hits, and an RBI. Kip Allen delivered two hits, and an RBI while Hillard had a hit and an RBI.
The win improved the No. 3 ranked Colonels to 12-2.
