Harlan County rallies late to knock off Knox Central 12-8

HARLAN — Harlan County broke open a tight game late, scoring eight runs over the final three innings to pull away for a 12-8 win over Knox Central on Thursday.

Knox Central (1-7) stayed right with the Lady Bears early, building a 6-2 lead through four innings before Harlan County flipped the game with a five-run sixth inning and added three more in the seventh inning to seal it.

Harlan County (9-3) pounded out 14 hits in the win, led by Jordyn Smith, who finished 3-for-5 with three runs scored, and Adams, who went 3-for-5 with three runs and an RBI. Raegan Landa added a big game at the plate, driving in four runs on two hits while Carmen Thomas chipped in with a hit and two RBI.

Knox Central was led by Sydney Grubb, who went 4-for-4 with a run scored and an RBI. Shelbi Smith and Gabby Pilarski each drove in two runs while Kendall Williamson added two hits in the loss.
