Hoskins shines in pitcher’s circle, leads Clay County past Bell County

MANCHESTER — Alivia Hoskins delivered a dominant performance in the pitcher’s circle and at the plate, powering Clay County to a 4-3 win over Bell County on Thursday.

Hoskins went the distance, striking out 11 while scattering five hits and allowing three runs in a complete-game effort. She also helped her own cause offensively, finishing with two hits and two RBI.

Clay County (6-2) struck early, scoring two runs in the second inning to take control before adding two more in the fifth that proved to be the difference.

Anna Samples and Holly Hacker each collected a hit and scored a run while Casey Lust added a hit and crossed the plate as part of the Tigers’ balanced attack. Madison Sizemore collected two hits, and an RBI. Clay County finished with nine hits on the night.

Bell County (5-2) made a late push, scoring once in the sixth and twice in the seventh, but couldn’t complete the comeback.

Tristan Saylor led Bell County with two hits and an RBI while Addison Maiden and Jayda Boateng both added a hit apiece and drove in a run apiece.
