Knox Central handles Bowling Green, 5-2

MYRTLE BEACH, SC — Knox Central used a three-run second inning, and strong pitching down the stretch knock off Bowling Green, 5-2, on Thursday.

The Panthers (4-5) broke through in the second inning, scoring three runs to grab early momentum, then added two more in the fifth to extend their lead.

“Good win tonight, Easton Ramsey threw a gem for us,” Knox Central coach Mike Bright said. “Been a very good week of baseball only one win but played some very good baseball teams. I think we learned a lot about ourselves and are trying to clean up some stuff. Overall, very proud of our kids this week.”

Mike Bright’s squad posted a 1-3 mark during their stay in The Ripken Experience while playing tough competition to prepare themselves for postseason play.

Trevor Smith and Matthew Powenski each scored twice in the win while Nate Miller and Jathan Collins drove in two runs apiece. The Panthers finished with seven hits and took advantage of four Bowling Green errors.

On the mound, freshman Easton Ramsey was sharp, earning the win after going 6.1 innings while allowing just three hits and two runs. He walked none and struck out four.
