No. 3 Colonels continue winnings way

Whitley County spotted Springfield a 2-0 lead in the top of the first inning and then proceeded to deliver 13 hits while taking advantage of five walks and three errors en route to the Colonels’ 18-3 win.

Christian Wilson went 2-for-2 with a home run and two RBI while Cooper Parman delivered a hit, two runs scored and three RBI. In all, Whitley County had 11 players drive in runs.

“Rough start to the game and we responded by hitting the ball all over the ballpark,” Whitley County coach Jeremy Shope said. “Hopefully, we learned a valuable lesson by making sure we bring energy from the time we step foot at the ballpark. We had an early morning start after a long day yesterday. This is the time to learn from our mistakes. Proud of how we responded.”

Kip Allen received the win, lasting 2.1 innings while giving up three hits and one earned run. He struck out four batters. Trey Walton came in relief, pitching 1.2 scoreless innings while striking out three batters.
