Lynn Camp grabs first win of the season with 16-1 win

CORBIN — Behind big nights from Emma Burnette, Lily Henize and Lorelai Prewitt, Lynn Camp rolled to a much-needed 16-1 win over Thomas Walker on Tuesday.

Burnette led the charge with two hits and three runs scored. Henize had two hits, three RBI, and one run scored while Prewitt added a hit, three runs and an RBI. Alissa Weymers and Bailey Disney each scored three runs with Disney also driving in two, as the Lady Cats (1-3) dominated at the plate with 16 runs on nine hits.

“We haven’t started the season off the way we wanted, but this team doesn’t quit,” Lynn Camp coach Nikki Hendrix said. “I’m really proud of my girls and how hard they played tonight. Julie Moore pitched a great game for us and the defense played well behind her. Almost everyone got on base tonight and Lily Henize had a big night at the plate, with two hits and 3 RBI. Hopefully, we can feed off this momentum and continue playing like this.”

Lynn Camp put the game away early, scoring seven runs in the first inning and adding five more in the second before closing it out with four in the third.

In the circle, Julie Moore picked up the win, allowing just one hit and one run over three innings, while striking out four.
