MIDDLESBORO — Whitley County improved its record to 13-12 with an impressive 52-36 win over Middlesboro on Monday.
Maddy Hopkins led the way with 22 points while Jonna Rice added 19 points.
“It’s always good to get a win on the road,” Whitley County coach Ronnie Collier said. “I thought we were pretty good defensively, at times, tonight. Aubree and Jonna did a good job on Roberts and Lambert. We got into a little foul trouble in the second quarter, so we had to go zone, and Middlesboro was able to make some threes to cut into our lead before the half. Maddy and Jonna had very good games offensively.
“Jaylee led us in rebounds with eight,” he added. “Lydia played very solid defense and Cristen gave us valuable minutes off of the bench. We have a quick turnaround, playing a very good Bell County team tomorrow. Go Colonels.”
