Lady Redhounds get back to winnings ways, defeat Clay County, 54-30

MANCHESTER — Isaac Wilson’s Corbin Lady Redhounds needed a win, and they got it on Friday, defeating Clay County, 54-30.

Wilson’s squad snapped a two-game losing skid while improving to 11-8.

“Happy for our kids tonight,” he said. “It feels good to get back on track. We have been going through a rough stretch of basketball and I’m happy for my kids as they have continued to grind and show up each day with the right mentality to improve.

“I have mentioned to them that every team goes through trials, but it’s all about how you respond to those trials in what type of basketball team you really have,” Wilson added. “I’m happy to see our basketball team get up off the mat if you will and put together a great game tonight.”

Aubree Clemens led Corbin with 16 points while Kalley Stewart had 14 points, and Lydia King finished with 13 points.

“We must build off of tonight‘s momentum as we are nearing the final stretch before postseason play,” Wilson said. “I really believe in this basketball team and we have a great group of individuals. If we continue to show the same fight that we had tonight, I like our chances for being right there at the end of this year.”

Maci White, and Lauryn Sizemore both led the Lady Tigers in scoring with seven points apiece.
