Lady Yellow Jackets hitting stride, knock off Frankfort

WILLIAMSBURG — Melissia Douglas’ Douglas’ Williamsburg Lady Yellow Jackets are beginning to catch steam.

Williamsburg won consecutive games for the first time this season, thanks to a 58-52 win over visiting Frankfort on Saturday.

The Lady Yellow Jackets now have seven wins on the season, matching last year’s victory total.

“Great to come away with another win,” Douglas said. “We started the game very sloppy, with at least seven turnovers and too many missed easy shots. At this point in the season, we need to be more polished.

I was pleased with how we settled in and gradually improved as the game went on, making better decisions and hitting shots. “Abby Moses and Marissa Meadors did a great job on the boards with 12 rebounds each, Bella Jeffries added seven, and Sammie Phipps finished with five,” she added. “Offensively, six of our eight players scored, led by Ellie with 17 points, Abby with 16, and Braylee with 12. We’ll continue working to develop more scoring options and do a better job finishing off rebounds.”
