Lady Colonels get revenge, hand Corbin 13-point loss

WILLIAMSBURG — Whitley County’s stunned Corbin on Tuesday, handing the Lady Redhounds a 52-39 loss while exacting some revenge during the process.

The Lady Colonels had dropped a 60-42 decision to Corbin on Jan. 20, but are now 10-10 overall while garnering a 3-2 mark against district opponents.

“It was a great win tonight,” Whitley County coach Ronnie Collier said. “We have put together good halves against good teams, but it was nice to finally put together a complete game. I thought we were a lot better defensively than we have been, and much better on the boards. Maddy (Hopkins) had another massive game with 29 points and 12 rebounds. Jonna (Rice) played great, as well, with 13 points and nine rebounds. Jaylee (Cox), Aubree (Fore), and Lydia (Hale) played great defense and made huge plays that sealed the game. We will start preparing for a good Clay County team that we’ll play Saturday. Go Colonels.”

Braylen Frederick led Corbin with seven points while Lydia King and Addy Wilson both scored six points apiece.

The Lady Redhounds are now 10-7 overall, and 2-2 in district play.
