LEXINGTON — Williamsburg continued its recent momentum on Friday, defeating Trinity Christian 42–26 to improve the Lady Yellow Jackets to 5–8 on the season and give them three wins in their last five games.
Williamsburg set the tone early and maintained control throughout, leaning on balanced scoring and steady defense to pull away for the 16-point win.
Braylee Evans led the Lady Yellow Jackets with 17 points, knocking down three three-pointers in the process. Abby Moses followed with 11 points while Marissa Meadors added six points as Williamsburg continued to get contributions across the lineup.
Williamsburg coach Melissia Douglas was pleased with her team’s effort, especially given the circumstances.
“I’m really proud of how our ladies competed tonight,” she said. “Abby and Braylee continue to lead the way in scoring and set the tone for our offense. Marissa Meadors has been incredibly impressive — she’s improved every game, played with great confidence, and was right on the edge of a double-double while shooting the ball with confidence. Bella and Tia are really stepping up and making meaningful contributions, and it’s been great to see Maddie and Savannah Dabney earn more minutes and make big plays when their number is called.
“Even missing two starters due to injury, this group showed resilience, growth, and a genuine love for the game,” Douglas added. “I truly enjoy watching this team continue to grow together. We’ll focus on healing up and getting back in sync.”
