PINEVILLE — Pineville built an early cushion and never let up Friday night, defeating Washburn, Tenn., 72–61 to improve to 8–8 on the season.
The Mountain Lions set the tone from the opening tip, racing out to an 18–7 lead in the first quarter and keeping control the rest of the way.
Preston Zachery led Pineville with 17 points, knocking down four three-pointers in the win. Kenton Brock followed with 16 points, while Noah Slone connected on three shots from beyond the arc and finished with 15. Jacob Grubbs and Anderson Gentry rounded out the balanced scoring with eight points apiece.
