OWENSBORO — Brad Sizemore’s Bell County Bobcats remained red-hot, handling Adair County with ease with a 70-46 convincing win during first round action of Friday’s Kentucky 2A State basketball Tournament.
The win improved the No. 13 Bobcats to 13-2 while extending their win streak to eight games.
Sizemore’s squad will now face-off against Boyd County Saturday. The No. 9 Lions are winners of six straight and will enter the game with a 13-4 mark.
Bell County jumped out early and never looked back, racing to a 21-6 lead after the first quarter and building a 37-20 halftime advantage. The Bobcats continued to apply pressure in the second half, outscoring Adair County 18-10 in the third quarter and stretching the margin to as many as 32 points late in the fourth.
Bell County shot 51.8 percent from the field for the game and knocked down nine three-pointers, while holding Adair County to just 34.0 percent shooting.
Blake Burnett led the way for the Bobcats with 24 points on 10-of-13 shooting from the floor, including going a perfect 4-for-4 from 3-point range. He also had 11 rebounds and eight assists. Ethan Buell followed with 19 points while Braxton Ferguson had 11 points, eight rebounds, and four assists.
Bell County controlled the glass with a 39-22 rebounding advantage and turned Adair County’s 11 turnovers into easy points, scoring 11 points off miscues.
