Pineville opened 51st District play with a dramatic 45–44 win over Barbourville on Friday night, improving the Lady Mountain Lions to 10–6 overall and 1–0 in district action. Barbourville slipped to 4–8 on the season and 0–1 in district play.
Rachel Howard led Pineville with 16 points, providing a steady offensive presence throughout the night. Madison Johnson followed with 11 points as the Lady Mountain Lions found just enough scoring to hold off a late Barbourville rally.
Barbourville was paced by Layla Brock and Marleigh Martin, who each scored 15 points for the Lady Tigers in the narrow loss.
