Yellow Jackets fall short, drop 61-50 road decision

KNOXVILLE — With leading scorer Reece Hatcher out with an injury, the Williamsburg Yellow Jackets have had problems scoring, and it was the case again during Thursday’s 61-50 loss to the Knoxville Ambassadors.

Lane Jeffries came through with a huge night, scoring more than half of his team’s points with 27 while Trenton Cornett added 10 points.

“We had a really good effort tonight but a really bad third quarter and we just couldn’t recover,” Williamsburg coach Brandon Bargo said. “We were 7-of-24 from the free throw-line and you’re not going to beat many teams with that. We are continuing to get better and with showing growth and along with maximum effort that’s all I can ask for. Reece kind of makes us go and without him (injury) we have guys stepping into roles they’re not used to so we’re all growing and adapting together.”
