HARLAN — Harlan entered Thursday’s game riding a four-game win streak and winning its 14th 13th Region All ‘A’ Classic championship, but ran into a defensive-minded Clay County team that managed to pull off a 61-49 victory.
The Tigers (12-5) held Green Dragons’ (7-9) leading scorer Kobe Noe scoreless while allowing only one Harlan player score in double figures (Ethan Huff, 10 points).
“Harlan is a tough matchup because they always have five guys on the floor who can shoot it well, and are able to attack you off the bounce,” Clay County coach Michael Jones said. “The first quarter, they had us on our heels, so we had to adjust our defense. For the last three quarters, we guarded much better, and it was the difference in the game.
We’ve got to get back in practice and clean some things up offensively.”
Aiden Wagers led Clay County with 21 points while Adon Grubb finished with 16 points.
