Mountain Lions Dominate Opener at Chain Rock Classic

PINEVILLE — Pineville opened its own Chain Rock Classic in impressive fashion, rolling past Trimble County 76–41 on Monday to extend its winning streak to four games and improve to 5–4 on the season.

The Mountain Lions controlled the game from the opening tip, building a 25–12 advantage after the first quarter.

Pineville continued to stretch the lead in the second period, taking a commanding 52–23 edge into halftime before pushing the margin to 68–31 entering the fourth quarter.

Noah Slone led the way for Pineville with 25 points, knocking down four three-pointers in the win. Anderson Gentry also connected on four triples and finished with 21 points while Jacob Grubbs added nine points.

Pineville coach Brad Levy was pleased with his team’s performance on both ends of the floor.

“Our kids played well on both ends of the floor tonight,” he said. “I thought our defensive intensity was as good as we’ve seen so far. Offensively we were very unselfish and hunted out great shots. Life is always better when shots are falling. We have a big test tomorrow against Nicholas County who is one of the top teams in the 10th Region.”
