CORBIN — Barbourville opened play in the Cumberlands Falls Invitational with a solid 67–57 victory over Jellico, Tenn., on Saturday, picking up its first win of the tournament and improving to 2–4 on the season.
The Tigers set the tone early, building a 22–14 lead by the end of the first quarter and extending the advantage to 35–23 at halftime.
Barbourville continued to control the game after the break, pushing the lead to 52–36 at the end of the third quarter.
Logan Stepp led the way for Barbourville with 21 points and was perfect at the free throw line, going 8-of-8. Chase Wilder followed with 18 points while also shooting 7-of-7 from the stripe. Noah King added 12 points and went 4-of-4 at the free throw line while Carter Deaton chipped in 10 points.
