Corbin holds off late Jackson County rally, wins 65-54

CORBIN — Three players scored in double figures for Corbin as the Redhounds outlasted Jackson County during Saturday’s Cumberlands Falls Invitational battle with a 65-54 victory.

The game was close throughout but Corbin did just enough to improve to 3-5 while the Generals fall to 6-4.

“If anything we are going to be war-tested,” Corbin coach Tony Pietrowski said. “Tonight wasn’t the smoothest performance, but we battle our way to a win. Lucas Brittain made some big plays for us when it was tight. His leadership is needed.

“Eli continues to be a warrior for us,” he added. “He scored it from multiple levels and controlled the glass. Clay and Trey were spark plugs for us this evening. Some big hustle plays and rebounding.”

Eli Pietrowski came up huge again, leading all scorers with 24 points and 15 rebounds as eight of those came in the game’s final eight minutes. Lucas Brittain added 18 points while Evan Ellis finished with 12 points.

Jackson County also had three players scored in double figures, as Brennon Combs, and Wyatt Gray both scored 16 points apiece while Tansen Truett added 15 points.
