LONDON — Russell pulled away in the final minutes Saturday, handing Corbin a 65-55 loss in the Legacy Nissan Dribble Drive Challenge as the Redhounds dropped to 1-4 on the season.
The game was tight from the get-go with Corbin trailing 12-11 at the end of the first quarter.
The Redhounds stayed within striking distance through a competitive first half and went to the locker room down 28-24.
Corbin continued to chip away after halftime and nearly grabbed the lead entering the fourth quarter, trailing by just one, 38-37.
Russell took control in the final eight minutes, outscoring Corbin 27-18 down the stretch.
Evan Ellis lex the Redhounds with a strong offensive performance, scoring 24 points while knocking down three three-pointers. Eli Pietrowski added 11 points, and Lucas Brittain finished with 10.
