MIDDLESBORO — Pineville picked up its second win of the season in dominant fashion Tuesday night, rolling past Middlesboro 61-27 in 52nd District action.
The Lady Mountain Lions set the tone early, jumping out to a 30-11 lead after the first quarter behind a strong offensive start from Rachel Howard, who scored 11 points in the opening period. Pineville continued to pull away in the second quarter, extending the advantage to 41-16 at halftime.
Pineville showed no signs of slowing down after the break, building a 56-21 lead by the end of the third quarter and cruising through the final frame.
Howard led all scorers with a game-high 32 points while going an efficient 6-of-7 from the free-throw line. Madison Johnson added 11 points for the Lady Mountain Lions.
Addyson Larew paced Middlesboro with 12 points.
With the win, Pineville improved to 2-3 overall and Middlesboro fell to 3-3.
