BARBOURVILLE — The Oneida Baptist Mountaineers earned a milestone victory Tuesday, defeating Barbourville 46–39 to record consecutive wins over the Tigers for the first time since the 2002–03 seasons.
Oneida Baptist (3–1) survived a second-quarter drought in which it scored only three points, but strong defensive stretches and timely buckets allowed the Mountaineers to maintain control down the stretch.
Even with the offensive lull, Oneida Baptist responded when it mattered most.
Tommy Branstutter paced the Mountaineers with 15 points, while Jayden Balfour added 12 in the win.
Barbourville dropped to 0–2 with the loss but continued to battle throughout, staying within striking distance until the final minutes.
