Lady Tigers Edge Owsley County, 54-51, in Thrilling Finish

BOONEVILLE — Barbourville earned a hard-fought 54-51 victory over Owsley County on Tuesday, rallying late and delivering in the clutch to move to 1–0 on the season.

The Lady Tigers trailed 14–9 after the first quarter and went into halftime holding a narrow 29–27 lead.

Owsley County responded with a strong third quarter to go up 38–35 heading into the final eight minutes, but Barbourville refused to go away.

With the game on the line, Sadie Hoffman drilled a huge 3-pointer with 29.4 seconds remaining, giving the Lady Tigers the lead they had been fighting to regain at 52-51.

Moments later, Marleigh Martin calmly knocked down two free throws with 11 seconds left.

Barbourville’s defense sealed the win. Layla Brock came up big in the fourth quarter with multiple blocks and steals, while Makenna Stewart, Izzy Mills, and KK Mills all turned in strong defensive efforts.
