LONDON — Due to a potential threat of wintry weather, Madisonville had to cancel its matchup with the North Laurel Jaguars during Saturday’s Legacy Nissan Classic.
Jaguar coach Nate Valentine quickly went to work trying to find an opponent for North Laurel to play, and was successful when The David School stepped up to the plate, and agreed to play.
The Jaguars improved to 2-1 after picking up a 53-29 win while Valentine was able to give his junior varsity and freshman players experience at the varsity level.
North Laurel jumped out to a 17-2 edge in the first quarter, and never looked back in the win.
“We had a last-minute cancellation from Madisonville due to the threat of winter weather, but because this game was part of the Legacy Nissan Classic, we immediately put out a statewide call,” Valentine said. “The David School stepped up and agreed to come, and we’re extremely grateful to them for making the trip. It also gave us the chance to honor our elementary tournament champions, the Bush Blue Devils, and still give our fans another home game.”
