Lady Tigers Lock Down Jenkins, Roll to 52–30 Victory

JENKINS — The Barbourville Lady Tigers used a dominant defensive effort to pull away and earn a 52-30 road win over Jenkins on Tuesday.

Sadie Hoffman and Bre Engle led Barbourville with 12 points apiece, while Marleigh Martin added 11 points and Layla Brock chipped in six.

Barbourville trailed 12-9 after the first quarter but turned the game around with a standout defensive performance in the second period, surging ahead 29-18 by halftime. The Lady Tigers continued to impose their will after the break, outscoring Jenkins 13-3 in the third quarter to seal the victory.

Coach Amy Shields praised her team’s resilience and defensive effort.

“Girls played great defense,” she said. “Got off to a slow start. We rallied through foul trouble but it was a good team effort. There are areas to work on but the heart and the hustle are there.”
