WILLIAMSBURG — Two teams going different directions met up Friday with Harlan County pulling off a 26-7 win over Whitley County.
The game was scoreless entering the second quarter before the Black Bears’ Brayden Morris scored on a three-yard touchdown run with 6:36 remaining to give his team a 8-0 lead.
Morris, who finished with four rushing touchdowns, added another touchdown run right before halftime, pushing Harlan County’s advantage to 14-0.
The Colonels cut their deficit to 14-7 with 38 seconds before halftime while giving themselves some momentum during the process.
Two more rushing touchdowns by Morris in the third quarter allowed Harlan County to put the game away.
The Black Bears improved to 6-3 while Whitley County dropped its eighth game in a row, falling to 1-8.
