LONDON — The North Laurel Lady Jaguars are district champions once again. Behind a determined performance from start to finish, North Laurel captured the 49th District title with a 25-22, 22-25, 25-23, 25-20 victory over Jackson County on Tuesday night.
The win moves the Lady Jaguars to 9-13 on the season, while Jackson County closes out its year at 8-14.
North Laurel’s balanced attack and late-set execution proved to be the difference, as the Lady Jaguars battled through several tight sets to secure the championship. Tournament MVP honors went to standout Makayla Clark, while teammates Mia Rodriguez, Hannah Daniels, Lucy Jo Linville, and Baylee Asher were each named to the All-Tournament Team.
Coach Lauren Culver said her team’s growth and unity were the key ingredients to their success.
“Coming into tonight, I was confident that we could come home as district champs, we just needed to stay focused and work together as a team,” she said. “Throughout this tournament I have seen the team play selflessly, and that’s been my goal this whole season. The team mentality is peaking at the right time.”
