Lady Jaguars advance to 49th District title game with three-set sweep

MCKEE — The North Laurel Lady Jaguars volleyball team notched their spot in the 13th Region Tournament by upending Clay County (13-19) in three sets during semifinal action of Monday’s 49th District Tournament.

North Laurel (8-13) took control in the first set, winning 25-19, while picking up a 25-21 win in the second set.

The Lady Jaguars closed out the match with a 25–12 victory in the third set.

“We came out with a strong lead in set one with Lucy Jo Linville serving 10 straight,” North Laurel coach Lauren Culver said. “Hannah Daniels was a large attacking presence tonight, while Makayla Clark defended the net with several blocks. The hustle in the back row was phenomenal, thanks to Baylee Asher, Morgan Preston, and Lucy Jo Linville. Mia Rodriguez’s coverage kept us in the game several times tonight as well. I’m proud of my girls and look forward to tomorrow night.”

The win advances the Lady Jaguars to the finals of the 49th District Tournament on Tuesday. Game time is set for 6:30 p.m.
