PINEVILLE — Pineville closed out its regular season on a high note Monday night, earning a straight-set victory over Lynn Camp, 25-11, 25-13, 25-21, to improve to 12-13 overall and 2-4 in district play.
The Lady Lions controlled the tempo from the start, jumping out to an 11-4 lead in the opening set before cruising to a 25-11 win. In the second set, Lynn Camp briefly found momentum, leading 13-12 midway through, but Pineville stormed back with a 13-0 run to close it out, taking the set 25-13.
The third set proved to be the most competitive of the night. Lynn Camp came out strong, building a 16-11 lead before Pineville rallied once again. The Lady Lions tied the match at 19 and never looked back, finishing on a 6-2 run to claim the set 25-21 and complete the sweep.
With the victory, Pineville wraps up regular season play and will now turn its attention to the upcoming 51st District Tournament, which begins October 20 at Pineville. The Lady Lions will face Barbourville in the semifinal round at 7:30 p.m., while Lynn Camp (now 0-16, 0-6) will meet top-seeded Knox Central at 6 p.m.
Lynn Camp will finish its regular season on the road Monday, October 14, at Bell County before beginning postseason play.
