LONDON — North Laurel advanced to Wednesday’s 13th Region Boys’ Soccer Tournament championship by defeating Middlesboro, 8-0, on Monday.
The Jaguars improved to 11-8-2 and will face off against Oneida Baptist in Wednesday’s title game at 6:30 p.m.
Middlesboro concluded its season with a 7-7 record.
“We came out tonight the intention of working out a few kinks and trying to get the pace of play up a little,” North Laurel coach David Broyles said. “It took a few minutes to get going, but we were able to accomplish that. We moved the ball better and found open teammates for good shots. I really felt that the way we came out the second half was better with a much faster pace of play and it showed by us scoring 2 goals in just over 3 minutes to end the game. We will have to play better on Wednesday if we want to try to advance to state. I’m confident in this team that they will come together and give it their best shot.”
North Laurel’s attack dominated early, building a 6-0 lead by halftime.
Reilly Stuber and Jaxon Jacobs each scored twice in the opening half, while Malik Turner and Tate Philpot added one goal apiece.
The Jaguars continued their scoring surge after intermission, with Stuber completing his hat trick at the 38:12 mark, and Tucker Eversole adding the final goal less than two minutes later to seal the 8-0 victory.
