LONDON — South Laurel closed out its regular season on a positive note, defeating Casey County 5-0 to improve to 2-10.
Lady Cardinals coach Jessica Perkins praised her team’s ability to overcome a slow start and finish the match with confidence.
“The girls start off a little sluggish and took a few minutes to get out the gate and get going,” she said. “We had plenty of chances on goal in the first half but we just couldn’t find the back of the net. Gracie Hoskins took advantage of a PK going into halftime to put us up 1-0. We went in at half time and addressed the slow play and being quicker with the plays, once that second half started, the team took off and finished out a great game.
“We connected on some great passes and timed runs to perfection,” she added. “I was very pleased with the outcome of tonight’s game, it was a very necessary morale boost. Gracie scored three goals, Lanea French had one goal and Halle Reams with one goal.”
