WILLIAMSBURG — Nick Shearer’s Whitley County Lady Colonels got a big win on Monday, defeating Somerset, 2-1.
Whitley County is now 9-5-1, and will finish regular season play with a road game against Clinton County on Thursday.
“Great win tonight for the Lady Colonels,” Shearer said. “Jerrica Shepard had two goals tonight and Kaylee Bunch had an assist. It was a real grit and grind kind of game with both teams not giving up much throughout the whole game. Our defense held strong and goalie Rheagen Strickland made some key saves late in this one to help put the colonels on top. Our offense looked good, we had some great chances and opportunities thanks to our midfield. Great win for the program and we are looking towards our next game.”
