LONDON — North Laurel continued its hot streak with a dominant 8-0 victory over South Laurel on Thursday, securing the 49th District’s No. 1 seed in the process.
The Lady Jaguars (6-4) were led by Lauren Crouch, who poured in four goals and added an assist. Haley Combs followed with two goals, while Annabelle Welch and Mia Thompson rounded out the scoring. Thompson also dished out an assist.
The win marked North Laurel’s third straight victory over the Lady Cardinals and their second shutout of the season. It was also the program’s fifth win in its last six contests, keeping momentum rolling with the postseason on the horizon.
With the loss, South Laurel fell to 1-9 overall and 1-2 in 49th District play. North Laurel, meanwhile, clinched the district’s top seed with an undefeated 3-0 mark.
Coach Kayla Carson said she was proud to see her team put together another strong performance.
“In a season with highs and lows, it’s nice to enjoy a high moment,” she said. “When we play together it’s fun to watch. Defense played solid and kept the ball up the field. Offense shared the ball well and was able to make the most of scoring opportunities. Thankful to secure another district win.”
