LONDON — South Laurel snapped a three-game losing skid, and picked up its first win in a month, defeating Richmond Model on Tuesday, 4-2.
The Cardinals (5-6-1) fought back from a 2-1 deficit at halftime, and scored three goals in the second half to get the win.
“It was a good test for our boys,” South Laurel coach Brooks Cawood said. “It was their senior night and they were fired up. We went down 2-1 at the half and our boys worked hard to dig themselves out of a hole and secure a win.
“It wasn’t easy,” he added. “Caleb Whicker made some excellent saves to keep us in the match and build attacks. Blake Robinson scored three goals and Luke Sauer scored his first goal of the season. He has been coming up from right back and helping on offense. Ryan Martinez and Ethan Emge played with a lot of intensity and set a good example. We travel to Boyle County on Thursday and we are making sure to heal up, stay healthy and hydrated to continue working toward the postseason.”
