SOMERSET — The North Laurel Lady Jaguars rose to the occasion on the biggest stage, capturing the 10th Region Girls’ Golf Championship with a team score of 379 on Tuesday.
The victory came in a tight battle, as Corbin finished runner-up at 388 and South Laurel was right behind in third at 390. Whitley County rounded out local finishers in seventh with a score of 528.
South Laurel’s Alyssa Siler delivered the standout individual performance of the day, taking medalist honors with a tournament-best round of 76.
Corbin’s Makenna Myatt followed closely behind with a runner-up finish after shooting a 79, while her teammate Kalyn Watkins added a top-five finish with an 84. North Laurel was led by Ella Baker, who earned eighth place overall with an 88.
The Lady Jaguars put together a balanced effort across the board to secure the team title. Baker’s 88 set the tone, followed by Lily Kate Chesnut (92), Maddie Brewer (95), Riley Vickers (104), and Katie Gilliam (108) to push North Laurel to the top of the standings.
Corbin’s lineup stayed in contention throughout the day with Myatt and Watkins leading the way. The Lady Redhounds also got contributions from Brooke Kfoury (105), Paige Kfoury (120), and Kylie Cuel (139).
South Laurel challenged for the crown as well, highlighted by Siler’s medalist round. The Lady Cardinals added strong rounds from Lily Barton (94), Audrey Likins (101), Morgan Jackson (119), and Lindsey House (123).
Whitley County was led by Aly Partin’s 105, with additional rounds from Emily Lynch (131), Mia Prewitt (136), Kara Bunch (156), and Kylie Hudson (173).
