Pineville picked up a crucial 51st District victory on Tuesday, sweeping Lynn Camp in straight sets, 25-6, 25-20, 25-10.
The Lady Mountain Lions (10-9, 1-2 in district play) stormed out to a dominant start, jumping ahead 10-1 in the opening set before cruising to a 25-6 win.
The second set proved to be more competitive. Pineville built an early lead at 7-2 and stretched it to 20-12 before Lynn Camp answered with a 5-0 run that cut the deficit to just 22-20. Pineville regrouped after a timeout, closing out the frame with a 25-20 victory to go up 2-0.
In the third set, Pineville again took control early, using an 11-0 closing run to secure a 25-10 win and complete the sweep.
The loss dropped Lynn Camp to 0-11 overall and 0-3 in district play, while Pineville improved to 10-9 overall and 1-2 in district action.
With the win, Pineville moves into position for the No. 3 seed in next month’s 51st District Tournament, where the Lady Mountain Lions are set to face Barbourville in the opening round.
