Oneida Baptist stays hot with 4-1 win over Whitley County

MANCHESTER — The Oneida Baptist Mountaineers extended their winning streak to six matches with a 4-1 victory over Whitley County on Thursday night.

Hero Khajohnsupawatchara, Mike Dawit, and Nahom Yuna each found the back of the net as the Mountaineers improved to 11-2 on the season. The loss dropped the Colonels to 8-6-1.

After jumping out to an early lead, Oneida Baptist kept control for much of the match despite missing several key players due to injuries.

“Happy with another district win,” Oneida Baptist coach Hunter House said. “We have been plagued by the injury bug the past few weeks and were down a few key players. Fortunately, we had some guys step in and played well. It wasn’t our best performance but we will now look forward to Louisville Collegiate on Saturday. Will be a huge opportunity for our guys to play vs one of the best teams in the state.”
