Lady Jaguars remain unbeaten in 49th District play with 3-0 win over Corbin

LONDON — The North Laurel Lady Jaguars picked up a key 49th District victory on Thursday, defeating Corbin 3-0.

North Laurel’s offensive attack was paced by goals from Lauren Crouch, Mia Thompson, and McKinley Mastin. Assists came from Eden Begley and Mia Thompson, as the Lady Jaguars steadily controlled the pace of the match.

The win improves North Laurel to 6-3 overall and 2-0 in district play, while the Lady Redhounds fell to 5-9 and 1-2 in district action.

“Tonight was a solid district win for us,” North Laurel coach Kayla Carson said. “We honored our seniors before the game and it’s always hard to shake those emotions before the game. I wasn’t sure how we would come out but we were able to stay composed and take care of business.

“Our defense held strong and worked together,” she added. “I was very proud of their effort. Goalie Jaedyn Gilbert picked up her first varsity shut out. Offense played very well as a team. They were able to maintain possession most of the game. Haley Combs and Sarah Watkins had the middle of the field locked up and were a big part of us keeping possession. Overall, another good team win.”
