South Laurel sweeps crosstown rival North Laurel

LONDON — The South Laurel Lady Cardinals picked up a big crosstown rivalry win Tuesday night, sweeping North Laurel in straight sets, 25-14, 25-15, 25-17.

With the victory, South Laurel improved to 6-11 on the season while the Lady Jaguars dropped to 4-8.

“I was really proud of the way the girls played tonight,” South Laurel coach Shelley Nunley said. “They came in motivated and focused, and they worked exceptionally hard to get the job done. A few of our hitters had a really big night, dominating at the net with some heavy swings and well-placed balls.

“This also may have been one of our best passing games, with our back row being a lot more mobile and talkative,” she added. “Across the board in all the areas, we had a solid match that felt good to put in the books.”
