Williamsburg picked up its first state tournament win in the All ‘A’ Classic State Tournament, defeating Heritage Christian 25-21, and 25-19 before falling to Raceland 25-21, 21-25, and 12-25 during its second pool play game on Friday.
“Our girls played a great game and came out aggressively on offense,” Williamsburg coach Dirk Berta said. “We got out of serve/ receive quickly and were able to sustain serving runs. I’m very proud of this group and this program as we continue to break thru glass ceilings and make Williamsburg volleyball history.
“This was our first ever win at All A State tournament competition and we’re looking to add another,” he added. “We play Knott Central tomorrow before tournament play after that. As always, Go Jackets.”
