CORBIN — One week after suffering a heartbreaking loss to Knott Central, the Lynn Camp Wildcats responded in a big way Friday night, grinding out a 34-14 victory over Thomas Walker (Va.).
The win pushes the Wildcats to 3-1 on the season and showcased their ability to regroup quickly after adversity.
Head coach Darrell Hendrix praised both his players and his staff for the all-around effort.
“This win was everyone,” he said. “The kids are playing their hearts out and buying into what we’re doing. We’ve getting better every week. I’m really happy with my coaching staff, Coach Moore and Coach Mitchell, my offensive and defensive coordinators, are doing a great job. Coach Hubbs, Coach Wagner, and Coach Jackson are all working hard to get us ready every week.
“DJ Wren had another huge night,” Hendrix added. “He had over 250 yards rushing and four touchdowns. Braylen Humfleet had over 100 yards rushing and two touchdowns. Offensive line is making big holes for them to run thru. Defense is flying to the ball and making plays.”
