CORBIN — For the second time this season, the Corbin Lady Redhounds got the better of Whitley County, this time securing a 6-2 district win on Thursday night.
Emma Massengill led the way with a hat trick, finding the net three times, while Mary Simons added two goals and Brylei McKee chipped in one.
The offensive surge pushed Corbin’s record to 4-5 while Whitley County dropped to 3-4.
“I’m extremely proud of our team tonight. It was good district win for us,” Corbin coach Hannah Goins said. “We came in focused and motivated and we were able to control the game.
“The last few games we struggled to find the back of the net but our shots are finally starting to fall and our possession looked great,” she added. “We’ve worked a lot on finishing and it’s definitely paid off. Our defense looks more organized and we finally coming together all over the field.”
