SOMERSET — South Laurel came up just short on the road Thursday night, dropping a pair of close sets to Somerset, 25-23, 25-23, to even its record at 4-4 on the season.
The Lady Cardinals found themselves playing from behind in both sets and despite a late surge each time, the gap proved too much to overcome.
“We got slow starts in both sets and weren’t quite able to fill those gaps enough to come away with a win, but we battled until the very last points, which I was really proud of,” Lady Cardinal coach Shelley Nunley said. “We did a good job adjusting to some of the needs we were seeing as the game progressed, we just couldn’t get it to click quick enough. Somerset’s a tough team, and we’re excited to get another matchup with them next week.”
