BARBOURVILLE — Lynn Camp fell behind 7-0 in the first half but scored two unanswered touchdowns to win its season opener over Jellico, Tenn., 14-7, during the Pioneer Bowl.
Braylon Humfleet’s 43-yard touchdown for a score right before the end of the third quarter cut the Wildcats’ deficit to 7-6 while DJ Wren added the two-point conversion to give the Wildcats an 8-7 edge.
Wren added a rushing touchdown in the fourth quarter to secure the win for the Wildcats.
“We got off to a slow start, but our kids showed a ton of heart and finished,” Lynn Camp coach Darrell Hendrix said. “Our defense played great. We definitely have some stuff to clean up so we will get back at it and get ready for Berea. DJ Wren had a great night running the ball. Braylon Humfleet sparked us with a punt return for a touchdown, and Brady Helton had a great block to get us in the end zone the second time.”
