LONDON — Seniors Ellie Adams, Morgan Edwards, Kylee Lewis, Saige McClure and Bella Sizemore has etched their names into North Laurel softball history as one of the most successful classes to come through.
But they’re far from finished.
They’ll get a chance to out a final stamp on their resume with hopes of bringing the Lady Jaguars softball program its first state title since 2001.
“There aren’t enough words to describe this senior group,” North Laurel coach Chris Edwards said. “They lead by example and the result they have gotten so far is unbelievable. They have won 131 games so far in their career, five consecutive District Championships, three Region Championships, played in another Regional Final and played in the State Championship game. Those results should speak for themselves.
“A big senior class is a blessing,” he added. “These seniors have been through the battles and have seen just about everything softball can throw at them. They are the calm that we have needed at times this season and seasons past.”
Edwards said the five seniors bring so much to his program.
“I will actually have trouble articulating what these girls have meant to me and the program,” he said. “Morgan, Bella, Ellie and Saige were freshmen when I got this job. They have been with me every step of the way. I coached them in middle school before that. They have seen the bad and the ugly and helped keep everything on track. Kylee Lewis joined us this year and has fit in perfectly.
“The leadership they bring to the locker room and dugout, the results they produce on the field is what makes them a special piece of the Jaguar Legacy we talk about,” he added. “I am going to miss writing their name on the line up card every day.”
