CORBIN — Pineville pitcher Rachel Howard brought her ‘A’ game to the pitcher’s circle during Monday’s 13th Region Fastpitch Tournament first round matchup against Harlan County.
Howard struck out 15 batters, allowing only six hits and one earned run as the Lady Mountain Lions advanced to semifinal action with a 2-1 win.
Pineville scored two runs in the second inning and held a 2-0 edge until the Lady Black Bears scored a run in the seventh inning.
Isabella Adams and Monica Whitehead both drove in a run apiece for the Lady Mountain Lions.
Eighth grader Raegan Landa led Harlan County with two hits, a home run, an RBI and one run scored.
