Tigers stun North Laurel, advance to 49th District title game 

MANCHESTER — Clay County (15-11) stunned North Laurel (17-13) during Monday’s 49th District Baseball Tournament, falling behind 4-0 before rallying to win, 9-5, in eight innings.

The Jaguars took a 4-0 lead into the fifth inning only to see Clay County push across four runs to tie the contest at four apiece.

The Tigers took control of the game with five runs in the top of the eighth inning while claiming a 9-4 advantage during the process.

North Laurel attempted to rally in the bottom of the eighth but couldn’t only push across one run.

Clay County’s Ethan Jackson pitched the final five innings for the Tigers, allowing six hits and one earned run while striking out three batters.

Talan Marcum led Clay County at the plate with two hits and four RBI. Jackson and Aidan Roberts also drove in runs. The Tigers only managed four hits, taking advantage of 10 walks.

Cooper Parman, Cameron Hinkle, Ashton Napier, and Carter Kelley each had two hits and drove in a run apiece. Cooper Elza also had two hits.
