Singleton dominates in pitcher’s circle, helps lead Whitley County to 11-0 win over Lynn Camp

CORBIN — Angela Singleton’s Whitley County Lady Colonels (14-17) took an early 3-0 lead against Lynn Camp (7-15) before exploding for six runs in the fifth inning, paving their way to an 11-0 win on Thursday.

Caylee Singleton turned in one of her best pitching efforts of the season, going the distance while holding Lynn Camp to only four hits. She also struck out eight batters.

“These girls came out seeing the ball and utilizing small ball,” Whitley County coach Singleton said. “Then they died a little bit on offense before they woke back up again.

Defense was solid. Pitching was good tonight; and we were able to execute on some defensive situations we’ve been working on lately. These girls are fighters and are playing for something much bigger right now.”

Madilyn Rains connected with a home run and finished with two RBI, and two runs scored. Morgan Huddleston delivered two hits, an RBI, and a run scored while Cambree Price delivered two hits. Jayden Barton finished with a hit, an RBi, and two runs scored while Jadynn Johnson finished with a hit, an RBI and two runs scored. Hallie Huddleston and Mia Prewitt both had a hit, an RBI, and one run scored apiece while Singleton delivered a hit. Payton Hurst and Madison Lunsford both finished with a run scored apiece.
