Lady Cardinals secure win No. 22, defeat Somerset, 13-3

SOMERSET — Carly Mink’s South Laurel Lady Cardinals notched win No. 22 with a 13-3 rout of Somerset on Monday.

Led by Addison Baker’s 4-4, three RBI effort, South Laurel pounded out 14 hits in the win.

Kenzie Williams secured another win in the pitcher’s circle, allowing six hits and three earned runs during another complete game effort. She also finished with four strikeouts.

“It’s always huge to get a lead early and take pressure off of your pitching and defense,” Mink said. “We are just continuing to focus on having good at bats and swinging at good pitches. We’re finding ways to get runners on and get runs in. Kenzie was able to put together a solid effort from the circle and we also made plays when we needed to.”

The Lady Cardinals took control of the game early, scoring  eight runs in the first two innings while never looking back.

Williams helped her own cause at the plate, delivering three hits and two RBI while Ryleigh Bretz and Bailey Frazier both collected two hits, and three RBI apiece. Morgan Jackson finished with a hit, an RBI, and two runs scored while Sadie Lewis had a hit, an RBI, and one run scored. Emmie Rice had a hit, and four RBI.
